Every sampling fan’s favorite database opens the vaults for a very special event.

WhoSampled, a key resource for identifying and tracking sampled-based music, have been given access to the archives of famed library music specialists Imagem Production Music for a “Samplethon” — the world’s first Hackathon for music producers.

On Saturday, May 10, participating producers will be able to toy with rare and sought-after sample material from the Boosey & Hawkes and Cavendish catalogues — a treasure trove of samples, breaks and beats that are not commercially available and have not been heard by contemporary listeners.

WhoSampled are looking for 20 producers of all experience levels to take part, with an opportunity to win prizes and put their music in front of a new audience. Head to WhoSampled for more information, and watch this behind-the-scenes look of a handful of producers spending a day in the vaults.
