Well, here’s a treat we probably didn’t deserve.
Among the dross and disappointments of last year’s big-name rap releases, Earl Sweatshirt’s debut album Doris saw the 19-year-old casually wipe the floor with MCs 20 years his senior (sorry, Jay – although we have come round to the ‘Pound Cake’ verse now).
Today, apropos of nothing, Earl has dropped off two new tracks. The first, unhelpfully titled ‘*NEBRASKA MM VS ES* 9/6/12’, is a skewed, downbeat production (credited only to ‘random blah blah) and featuring Mac Miller and Casey Veggies.
The trippier second track is the rather more helpfully titled ‘*SONG FROM 2012 HIGH 6AM RAMBLING AT THE 5TH*’, which gives you an idea of its origins. Produced by Stoney, it’s a “song from 2012 that I have a special place for in my heart,” notes Earl, making him 17 when he recorded it.
Hear both below and keep an eye on his newly launched Important_Man464 Soundcloud account, just in case. [via Noisey]
