Gilles Peterson mixes 30 years of Horace Silver on Blue Note

Worldwide honcho pays tribute to the late jazz innovator.

Gilles Peterson has put together an hour-long mix of Horace Silver’s finest work spanning 30 years of releases on the iconic Blue Note label, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.

Silver, a pianist and saxophonist who pioneered the hard bop style, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, aged 85.

Meanwhile, Peterson’s Brownswood label recently released a new electronic compilation, electr*c – Volume 4, featuring sluggish house, ecstatic trap, ambient ballads and lots more.
