Next week is Hideout week.
The Croatian festival returns with a week – well, Monday June 30 to Thursday July 3 – of sun, sea and slick programming.
Let’s face it, even if you miss every DJ going and spend the whole time drunk on a beach, you’ll still have a good time. But for those of you who like to squeeze every bit of value of our their festival ticket, here’s the best way to go about it.
Go to FACT and Mono_Cult’s Pool Party
Weds July 2, 2pm-8pm
It’s FACT – the website you’re reading. It’s Mono_Cult, one of Leeds’ best club nights. And it’s a pool party with Joy Orbison, Bicep, Dense & Pika and Matt Long. If that doesn’t appeal to you then we don’t know what to tell you.
See Soul Clap
The Boston duo were the subject of FACT TV’s Hideout 2013 festival diary [below], and there’s few better soundtracks for summer than their blend of hip-hop, house and funk.
Go to a boat party
Honestly? It doesn’t matter which one – the line-ups are all cracking – but if you’re going to a festival somewhere this hot and you’re not on at least one boat party, you’re doing it wrong. Try to get one that sails at sunset, for maximum vibes.
See Special Request
When people talk about Paul Woolford’s Special Request project, a lot of the same adjectives – darkside, rolling, radged – seem to come up, which totally ignores its potential as great summer music. Special Request’s recent Sub Focus remix showcases just how much Woolford’s alter-ego owes to rave and hardcore as well as just jungle, and if he draws for the breakbeat piano jams at Hideout you’ll melt – guaranteed.
Listen to this mix
We’re premiering a mix by Hideout residents People Get Real, featuring Last Magpie, Curses, Michael Mayer and more. If you’re not already in the mood, then this should get you into it.
