Indie flagbearers All Tomorrow’s Parties have announced an exhibition of rarely seen music photography in east London next month.
The show will feature the cover proofs for every issue of Careless Talk Costs Lives and Loose Lips Sink Ships, two short-lived and sorely missed early ’00s alternative music magazines edited by photographer Steve Gullick and journalist Everett True. Careless… never used images issued by PRs or record companies, instead insisting on shooting every act featured in the magazine, so the photos in Gullick’s exhibition are rare items indeed.
Artists featured include Mogwai, Nick Cave, Madlib, Erase Errata, Will Oldham, Scout Niblett, Liars, The Dirtbombs, Bright Eyes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Songs: Ohia, The Kills, Oneida, Detroit Cobras, Young People, The Gossip, Mark Lanegan, The Icarus Line, Devendra Banhart, Josh T. Pearson, Estelle, TV On The Radio, The Hunches, Todd, Har Mar Superstar, Cat Power, Plush, Comets On Fire, Part Chimp, The Drones, Akron Family and Daniel Johnston.
‘The Photography of Steve Gullick’ is open from 11am to 7pm between August 5-8 at ATP Terminal, opposite Rough Trade in Shoreditch.
