Tricky‘s new album Adrian Thaws is just around the corner now.
Due September 8, the record follows last year’s return-to-form False Idols, and we’ve already heard one stand-out track. First single ‘Nicotine Love‘ was a fan-service of sorts, reminding many of us why we fell for Tricky’s regurgitated beats and gloomy rhymes in the first place.
Newest drop ‘Lonnie Listen’, which features Mykki Blanco and Francesca Belmonte is a much more abrasive affair, with thick synth stabs soaring over the kind of low-slung basses that should instantly remind of Tricky’s debut Maxinquaye. It’s more evidence that Adrian Thaws is shaping up to be Tricky’s best record in years.
