Lil Jabba returns today with a new EP, Gully.
After a set of under-the-radar cassette and digital releases between 2011 and 2012, Jabba broke out with his first full album, Scales, on Local Action in 2013.
For Gully, he sidesteps to True Panther – home of Glasser, Delorean and more – for an EP that is still rooted in Jabba’s love of footwork (most notably on closing track ‘Flexin’), but generally slows the tempo closer to hip-hop and wandering electronica. As ever with Jabba, however, what you see is never quite what you get, and Gully is full of the same dynamic 180s and sharp twists that made Scales and his previous releases so memorable.
Gully is out now on True Panther Sounds; we’re premiering the full stream below. Also worth reading: Angus Finlayson’s interview with Jabba from last year.
