The two-time DMC World Champion drops a freebie and heads to Europe.

New York’s Shiftee wears a bunch of hats: DMC champ, Dubspot director, NYU adjunct, grime obsessive and more. He also co-founded Hot Mom USA, a free-wheeling dance label that has released music by Mr. Mitch, Wheez-ie, Cakes Da Killa and more.

Continuing the label’s run of riotous freebies is Shiftee’s own ‘Aw Man’, which blends happy hardcore, hip-hop swagger and his turntablist background into a 160bpm banger. “I originally produced this tune at 140, but then I was like, nah, not hyper enough,” he writes.

“So, I studied the great speedsters of our time. I asked myself, what would Sonic the Hedgehog dance to? Would the Roadrunner get crunk to this? After deep soul searching and several coffees, I switched to 160, upped the energy level to 11, and boom – ‘Aw Man’ was born.”
