The garage legend goes to work.
22-year-old singer Karen Harding is the latest talent to get on the pristine, garage-laced house train. “I want to bring what Whitney Houston brought to ’80s and ’90s R&B to house,” she says. “I’m all about the vocals and bringing back really cool harmonies and strong ad-libs that people can get excited about. But most of all I want people to enjoy themselves.”
Her debut single, ‘Say Something’, certainly fits the bill; produced by UK dance prodigy MNEK, it joins R&B vocal traditions with contemporary, garage-flavored house. For the remix, Harding and company have enlisted garage legend Wookie to give it the required swing, as he has on tracks for her contemporaries Disclosure and Eliza Doolittle.
