The LA-based French producer and filmmaker is back with another suite of chaotic electronics.
When Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder imprint re-issued Mr Oizo‘s underrated ’05 album Moustache (Half a Scissor) it seemed like the perfect fit. Quentin Dupieux’s tweaky electronic production was way ahead of its time, and he sounded at home next to FlyLo’s acclaimed collective of forward-thinking producers.
Now Dupieux returns to the label with a brand new record entitled The Church, and from the sound of first single ‘Machyne’ (which you can hear below) he’s back to his old tricks again, blending sawing analogue synths with hiccuping rhythms and complex, disorienting sounds.
The Church is out on November 17 via Brainfeeder.
