The recently reunited rap group sat down with XXL for an in-depth discussion.
G-Unit were one of the most formidable ensembles of of the early 2000s. After a string of classic mixtapes and a whole lot of controversy the group, comprised of 50 Cent, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo (and for a while there, The Game) split up in an acrimonious fashion in 2008 following the disappointing sales of their second album.
The group reunited earlier this year at New York’s Summer Jam festival joined by a new member, New Orleans rapper Kidd Kidd. G-Unit quickly dropped an EP entitled The Beauty of Independence (check choice cut ‘The Plug’) following their reconciliation and have promised a new album in the coming months.
XXL sat down with all five members of G-Unit for a lengthy roundtable discussion covering topics ranging from the group’s public disintegration to their eventual reunion earlier this year.
