Have you ever watching a DJ and wished you could see the tracklist, only to forget about it later?
Well if that DJ was using a deck hooked up to Pioneer’s new “social platform” KUVO, then you could watch real-time tracklists emerge via the KUVO app or website.
Pioneer are putting KUVO forward as a change to revolutionize the dancefloor, allowing “people to enjoy the nightclub experience regardless of whether they are physically in a club or not.” But it has more uses than might initially be obvious – if the tracks are being logged in this manner, it allows performance royalties to be paid out way more efficiently, which has long been a massive problem for the electronic music sector.
According to the KUVO intro video (which you can check out in full below), there’s already a “vast network” of KUVO gateways (which need to be connected to both the decks and the internet for the service to work) being shipped out, so we’re assuming next time you see Richie Hawtin (who’s featured on the vid), you’ll be able to see exactly what iffy tech-house selections he’s making in glorious real time.
