The controversial rescore of Drive aired last night on BBC Three.
Masterminded by Zane Lowe, the updated version of Nicolas Winding Refn’s modern classic has been stripped of its Cliff Martinez score and After Dark-inspired synth-pop, and now features a collection of exclusive new tracks by Banks, Baauer, Jon Hopkins, SBTRKT, The 1975, Bastille, Bring Me The Horizon, CHVRCHES, Eric Prydz, Foals, Laura Mvula and The Neighbourhood.
The bold idea didn’t go down too well with fans of the film when it was announced earlier this month, prompting Lowe to defend the concept as “a parallel experience that you can choose to watch or not.”
Decision time, then, because the movie was broadcast on BBC Three last night. Perfect timing if you’re looking for a Halloween frightfest – watch if you dare on iPlayer (um, but only in the UK, of course).
