We have massive clusters over gaseous nebulas.
Of the many aliases Kool Keith has conjured during his career, Dr. Octagon remains one of his finest creations. A homicidal, time-travelling surgeon and gynecologist, Dr. Octagon gave Mo’ Wax one of its finest album in 1996 with Dr. Octagonecologyst. Produced by Dan The Automator, the album remains one of rap’s oddball classics.
The Dr. Octagon persona first appeared after the third Ultramagnetic MCs album, The Four Horsemen, when Keith produced two songs using the alias. Another song from that era has now appeared, ‘Droppin’ Bagels’, produced by Keith’s longtime partner Kutmasta Kurt.
Tongue twisters, sci-fi references stacked on top of each other and an eerie loop over crunchy drums, ‘Droppin’ Bagels’ certainly sounds like the good old doctor. Hear it for yourself below.
The track is being released on a limited edition yellow 7″ by Funky Ass Records. You can still pre-order copies over at UGHH.
