Spaghetti western specialist Ennio Morricone has announced two arena shows in London and Dublin next February as part of a rescheduled European tour.
The prolific film composer, who has scored hundreds of films by directors such as Sergio Leone, John Carpenter and Oliver Stone over his long career, has spent the past year recovering from a spinal injury. “It is with great joy that I can finally say that I have truly, fully recovered,” stated Morricone.
“I am most grateful for the loyalty that my audiences around Europe have shown. It was with great sadness that I have had to cancel and reschedule so many concerts during the past year. I am happy to announce though that nearly all of my concerts that were planned for this December will be rescheduled into my tour coming February and March!”
The rescheduled dates are for London O2 Arena on February 5, 2015, and Dublin O2 Arena on February 7. Previously planned dates in London (December 10) Birmingham LG Arena (December 14) and Manchester Phone 4U Arena (December 15) will no longer go ahead.
The 86-year-old insisted that the tour will not be his swansong. “Many people have asked if this coming tour is my last one. This is not the case. I feel rested, inspired and excited to be back. I consider it a comeback after a terribly long period of absence. I greatly enjoy conducting my music for my dear audiences and I intend to ‘conduct myself’ in recognition of their esteem and lasting patience.” [via Clash]
