Bambounou returns to Earth, and 50 Weapons, for his second LP.
Jéremy Guindo-Zegiestowski, better known as Bambounou, has become a regular fixture amongst the 50 Weapons roster since arriving on the label with his techno-leaning Cobe EP in 2012. As well as releasing a further two EPs on the Modeselektor-helmed imprint, 50 Weapons also issued Guindo-Zegiestowski’s debut album.
Entitled Orbiting, that album was set around the idea of a future life beyond planet Earth. In the two years since its release, Bambounou’s sound has shifted away from the bass-laden, UK-influenced style of his early releases to a leaner, more house-influenced sound.
Bambounou’s latest long player sees the producer return to his home planet, exploring a dystopian future Earth “where everything is in order and where no one can get out of the system.” According to the label, Centrum is more indebted to “ambient and techno” than the “bass and footwork influences” found on Orbiting.
50 Weapons will release Bambounou’s Centrum on February 27. You can check the tracklist below.
