Moog will produce a limited run of large-scale modular synths, built from their original ’70s designs.
American synth manufacturer Moog have announced plans to restart production on three of their most iconic large format modular synthesizers. Moog’s storied System 55, System 35 and Model 15 modulars will be manufactured once again in limited numbers.
The three models were originally created during Moog’s 1970s heyday, and the recreations will utilise the original schematics as well as the original hand-soldering techniques from the initial 1973 run.
Only 55 units of the System 55 will be rebuilt, with each one costing a hefty $35,000. The System 35 comes in an edition of 35 and will be priced at $22,000. The Model 15 gets a slightly larger edition of 150, with units priced at $10,000.
