SBTRKT and Jai Paul also get an acoustic makeover.
Stompy’s Playground, a London ensemble dedicated to reworking electronic tunes with classical orchestral instruments, synths and live drums, have teamed up with the London Contemporary Voices choir for a new set of covers.
The six tracks include Jon Hopkins’ ‘Abandon Window’, Jai Paul’s ‘BTSTU’ and a completely ridiculous medley of Squarepusher’s ‘My Red Hot Car’ and Slum Village’s ‘Fall In Love’.
There’s also a mash-up of SBTRKT’s ‘Sanctuary’ with Modeselektor’s ‘Berlin’, Lusine’s ‘Two Dots’ and the ensemble’s own ‘Stompy’s Dream’. Fans of virtuoso jazz-hop trio BadBadNotGood will be intrigued.
All six tracks are available for free download as a “gift for 2015”, so have at it.
