Questlove has shared rare archival footage of J Dilla playing drums in a 2002 recording session.
Each year on February 10, music fans worldwide commemorate the legacy of J Dilla by celebrating Dilla Day. To mark the occasion this year, The Roots’ Questlove dug into the archives and shared previously unseen footage of Jay Dee recording alongside Common and other members of the Soulquarians collective (Pino Pallidino is on bass).
The clip was apparently recorded on June 27, 2002, whilst The Roots and Common were mid-way through recording albums, having previously formed an unofficial collective sometime in 1996 using the blueprint of the Native Tongues Posse.
