Good news for all the jobless graduates out there.

Clubbing megabrand Ministry of Sound has launched an internship scheme, and in an unusual development for the music industry, it’s actually paid.

As MusicWeek reports, Ministry of Sound is looking for seven interns across its radio, compilations, club, creative, digital, finance and tours and events departments. As well as paying the London living wage of £9.15 per hour, the six-month scheme will award the lucky few free entry to its Elephant and Castle super club for the duration, as well as DJ masterclasses for those who want to brush up on their skills.

Those hoping for a non-stop party might be disappointed however – the candidates will have to earn their keep by working on their own individual project, which they will eventually present to Ministry of Sound’s CEO, Lohan Presencer. “This is a serious search for the next generation of top talent,” said Ministry of Sound human resources director Tacita Small, “which will test and develop the candidates’ situational adaptability, customer focus skills, creativity, work ethic and ability to collaborate.”

If that hasn’t put you off, you have three weeks from today to apply through the careers page of the Ministry of Sound website. Candidates will also have to get creative by submitting a 140 character cover letter to show why they deserve the job, as well as sharing it on social media channels using the hashtag #MinistryNeedsMe. As weird as submitting a cover letter through Twitter is, we imagine it’s better than the traditional route of starting in the clubbing industry by handing out flyers in the freezing cold.
