The Chicago DJ will bring a flavour of the original school for his overseas debut.

Later this month London club night House Of Trax will host the first ever gig outside of the US by Jackmaster Hater, aka Kevin Starke, owner of Kstarke Records and curator of last year’s excellent compilation of Chicago tracks once secretly traded between the likes of Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles.

The night’s organiser Chris Foster met Starke on a trip to the States last year: “He has a record shop in Chicago and recommended the most amazing records when I went there. We got talking about Ron Hardy and way he used to DJ and really hit it off. While I was there I also learned through his various labels he had released some of my favourite records. From Booton to Warehouse Box Trax and Kstarke Records there have been much needed bootlegs of rare tracks, unreleased Ron Hardy reel-to-reels and alternate (and better) mixes of tunes on Trax Records.”

Returning to London, Foster got in touch with Ben Bull of House Of Trax, who’s been buying records from Starke for years over the internet, and they got together to bring Starke to the UK for his first foreign show on March 14 at Dalston’s Bar A Bar. Support comes from Photonz and Grovestreet, who’ll be playing suitably jacking sets from the Chicago school, along with Foster (as Chris “Silk” Foster) and Bull (as Fools).

Find information and tickets from Facebook and RA, and check out the very special mix Starke put together ahead of the gig in the player below.

After that show, Starke will head up to Nottingham for a set at Local Housing at The Irish Centre on March 17 – get details on Facebook.
