The trailer for the first fully-authorised Kurt Cobain documentary has surfaced online.
Montage Of Heck premiered to a strong reception at the Sundance Film Festival in January but will not arrive in UK cinemas until spring. The documentary will be aired in the US by HBO on May 4, following a screening at SXSW in Austin, Texas, later this month.
Director Brett Morgen revealed earlier this month that the documentary will feature a previously unheard acoustic track from Cobain, which clocks in at 12 minutes in length. Morgen also revealed that the film’s score is comprised solely of “unreleased Cobain music.”
According to a press release from HBO, “the film provides no-holds-barred access to Cobain’s archives, home to his never-before-seen home movies, recordings, artwork, photography, journals, demos, personal archives and songbooks.” It also features “dozens of Nirvana songs and performances, as well as previously unheard Cobain originals”.
Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain served as an executive producer on the project.
