The compact controller’s “Send All” button aims to make things a lot easier for producers on the go.

Akai has announced a new MIDI controller called the MIDIMix, aimed at making things as easy as possible for musicians to work on tracks outside the studio and then tweak them later.

Though the MIDIMix looks much like Akai’s recent APC controllers for Ableton Live, the MIDIMix is aimed primarily at mixing and processing. As well as sporting an uncomplicated layout with nine faders and 24 knobs, the MIDIMix’s killer app is a “Send All” button that instantly syncs the mixer’s settings to their DAW.

The function means that artists should be able to mix and modify tracks concurrently in real time, and be able to work more easily on tracks inside and outside of the studio. Perhaps more importantly, it means a solution to the irritating instances when the fader and button levels don’t match with your software and the controls have to be tweaked to get your workstation to update.

The MIDIMix is compatible with most DAWs, and is also very cheap – it will be available in June at a price of just $99.99/£59.99. You can find out more at the Akai website. [via Sound On Sound]
