The Cincinnati-bred, Chicago-born multi-hyphenate readies his solo debut.

MWII (aka Micah Wise II, aka Martell Flagg) is a member of Chicago’s Posture crew. He first emerged at the beginning of the decade as part of The Zoo Krew, a duo that paired him with Posture contemporary KIT.

In 2013, he relocated to Chicago, connecting with scene leaders Supreme Cuts. The producer-vocalist-songwriter-director has spent the last few years sharpening his skills and developing his sound — a hazy, hybrid style that fits nicely on Posture.

Later this year, he’ll make his solo debut with In The Midst Of It All, a self-written, self-arranged and self-produced album that features KIT and Khalfaniglobal (with whom he teamed for the skeletal ‘Parental Advisory’).

The album kicks off with ‘Genesis’, a song of childhood reminiscence that sets the tone for In The Midst Of It All. Stream it below, along with ‘I Won’t Change’, a queasy, post-Yeezus offcut that has a harder edge than the album.
