With Senna director Asif Kapadia at the helm, the forthcoming Amy Winehouse film looks set to be a cut above your average rock doc.
After launching the trailer last month, the filmmakers have unveiled the first clip from the documentary, which features some candid footage plus recollections on Winehouse’s songwriting by Nick Schmanksy, a member of her management team.
Amy, which also includes previously unheard music from the late singer, will open in UK cinemas on July 3. Winehouse’s family recently branded the film “misleading”, with her dad Mitch claiming it was “tainted” by the filmmakers. [via NME]
