The EDM star’s raft stunt goes wrong.
Later this year, Steve Aoki will head to trial after being sued by a woman, Brittany Hickman, who claims he broke her neck when he jumped into an inflatable raft on top of the crowd at a 2012 concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego.
According to Hickman’s friends and the venue’s security footage, Aoki jumped about 20-feet from the scaffolding into the raft, knocking her unconscious. “I was trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where i was standing. My friends told me he landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head and I got knocked over,” she said.
After hotel staff wrapped her ankle, she was released back into the concert, despite being disoriented. Doctors told her that she could have been paralyzed in between the time she left San Diego and went to the hospital. She was in the hospital for three days and couldn’t work for two months.
Hickman is suing both Aoki and the Hard Rock Hotel, with a trial scheduled for August 28. Maybe Aoki’s raft stunt should go the way of his (now retired) cake toss. [via ABC 10]
