Bas Bron’s 2004 track is getting a well-deserved reissue.
Whoever paid £106 for it on Discogs will probably be feeling a bit chippy, but for the rest of us a vinyl repress of Fatima Yamaha’s ‘What’s A Girl To Do’ is great news.
Fatima Yamaha is, as JunoPlus points out, not a female producer but yet another bloke releasing under a feminine alias. Despite that, Dutch producer Bas Bron’s track is a slow-burn beauty that everyone should know and love. Originally released on his A Girl Between Two Worlds EP on Irish label D1 Recordings, ‘What’s A Girl To Do’ will now appear on a Dekmantel 12″ with three more Fatima Yamaha productions which were self-released digitally in 2012.
According to Jackmaster, who deemed it a “Glasgow classic” in his feature for FACT last year, “this tune used to bring the house down at Numbers every single time, no matter if we played it in the warm up or at peak time.” Hear it below and preview the extra tracks underneath – it’s out on July 13.
