Recorded in the remote mountains of Japan.

German composer and pianist Volker Bertelmann will release a new live album as Hauschka later this month. Entitled 2.11.14, the album contains two 20-minute improvisations and will arrive via City Slang on June 22.

2.11.14 was recorded late last year on the Japanese island of Kyushu in the remote town of Yufuin’s Artegio music museum. A press release describes the album as “a captivating, energetic stream of consciousness set to music, in parts akin to a DJ/live dance music set.” 2.11.14 is loosely based on Hauschka’s 2014 Abandoned City LP.

The press release for 2.11.14 includes a message from Bertelmann himself. He says “It [was] a great experience to drive for several hours to a remote and modest place in the mountains of Kyushu, only to find the ideal setting to record a piece of music so touching yet rough and spontaneous.”

2.11.14 will be released on June 22 via City Slang. [via RA]
