MC Ren has criticised Universal Pictures for not depicting him in the trailers for Straight Outta Compton.

The previews for the upcoming N.W.A. biopic point the focus on Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and Ice Cube. MC Ren, played in the film by Adis Hodge, is left out alongside fellow N.W.A. member DJ Yella, who is portrayed by Neil Brown Jr.

“Man f— these bitches at universal pictures leaving me out the movie trailers tryin to rewrite history,” Ren tweeted on Wednesday.

Ren wrote a number of N.W.A. tracks on his own and played a significant part in the creation of such hits as ‘Fuck The Police’ and ‘Straight Outta Compton’. He also penned entire songs on Eazy-E’s 1988 album Eazy-Duz-It.

MC Ren is scheduled to reunite with Ice Cube and DJ Yella to perform N.W.A classics at the BET Experience on June 27. Straight Outta Compton will hit cinemas on August 14.
