After two songs with lyrics about rape surface, the Atlanta vocalist apologizes.
For the past several months, Rich Homie Quan has been under fire for lyrics that condone rape on two leaked tracks. The first, ‘I Made It’, leaked in December but didn’t make headlines until May, when Quan issued a non-apology for the lyrics “I don’t want your ho, just want that cookie from her / She tried to resist, so I took it from her / How are you gonna tell me no? You must not know who I am.”
The second song, ‘Day 1’, includes an even worse lyric (“Mansion full of bitches, about to rape one / I’ma fuck these hoes”), and the problem started to look like a disturbing trend. This time, Quan has made a more significant statement when asked about the track by Billboard.
“I do not condone or promote rape. I’m not a rapist. That song was recorded in December 2012. I was young and just rapping. At the time, I had no guidance in my life. I blame it on that. So I apologize once more to my fans.”
