Hill shares a sultry version of a Nina Simone classic.

Netflix’s upcoming Nina Simone documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?, is set to arrive next week. To accompany the film, a host of musicians have recorded covers of the legendary singer’s most iconic songs.

A compilation entitled Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone is due to be released on July 10, featuring covers from Mary J. Blige, Usher, Common, Simone’s daughter Lisa and more.

Lauryn Hill has recorded no fewer than six covers for the compilation, despite initially only signing up for two. The first of those to surface is Hill’s stunning version of Simone’s 1965 bluesy showstopper ‘Feeling Good’, originally composed by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricuss the previous year.

In a statement, Hill said, “Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice. Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift.”
