She arrived two hours late and cut David Guetta’s headline set short.
Nicki Minaj managed to miss her scheduled slot at London’s Wireless festival yesterday (July 6), arriving two hours late to the site due to “travel issues”.
She had originally been due to play between 7pm and 8pm BST. When she failed to arrive on stage organisers flashed a message up on the screens saying: “Special announcement: we are told that she was due to be speeding down the M1 from Luton Airport as we speak but we have lost contact with her, we are hoping that she will be here soon.”
Minaj eventually arrived on stage at 9:30pm, cutting David Guetta’s headline set short to play a brief set including ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Feeling Myself’.
“Our plane couldn’t get out because of the weather but I want to tell you how much I fucking love y’all,” Minaj told the crowd when she arrived. “I want to tell you how much I appreciate you guys for showing up from day one.”
Minaj’s late arrival wasn’t the only bit of drama at Wireless this weekend. Friday’s leg of the festival saw a crowd of gatecrashers storm the site during Lethal Bizzle’s set. [via NME]
