No need for a jailbreak as drummer avoids prison sentence.

Disposed AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been sentenced to eight months home detention after admitting threatening to kill and drugs charges in New Zealand.  Rudd, 61, was sentenced in Tauranga District Court today.

The embattled stickman was originally set to stand trial in April but changed his plea to guilty before the trial began. Rudd was arrested in November of last year and charged over an incident in September in which he called a former member of his staff and threatened to kill both him and his daughter.

He acknowledged in a court summary of facts that he’d offered large amounts of cash, vehicles and a house to an associate after asking him to have the victim “taken out.”

Rudd also pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. The drug charges were laid after police executed a search warrant at Rudd’s New Zealand home on November 6. Police say Rudd was in possession of 0.71g of methamphetamine and 130g of cannabis.

Judge Ingram told the drummer that he would end up in custody if he breached any of the conditions of his sentence, which includes 24-hour monitoring at his home.

“I stone cold guarantee that’s where you’ll end up. I’m not your headmaster, I’m not your father, I’m a judge,” Judge Ingram said. [via stuff.co.nz]
