Warren G has announced his first project since 2009’s The G Files.
Regulate… G Funk Era Pt. 2 is billed as the sequel to his triple platinum 1994 debut (which featured the evergreen single ‘Regulate’) and is set to include unreleased material recorded with Nate Dogg before his death in 2011.
“[Fans] will be able to hear unreleased songs with me and Nate. They have been asking for years; ever since he passed away and even before he passed away, they wanted music from me and him,” the rapper told Billboard, adding that he’s recruited several artists for the project that he and Nate Dogg had originally wanted to work with, including E-40, Too $hort, Young Jeezy and Bun B.
“I feel real good that I am getting the chance to let people hear a lot of that sound that has been missing [in] hip-hop,” he said. “I finally have records that I had in the archives that I put together to let the world hear some of that G Funk that they’ve been missing and wanting to hear for long time.”
The first single, ‘My House’ (which interpolates Madness’ ‘Our House’), features Nate Dogg and can be heard below. Nate’s posthumous album It’s A Wonderful Life was set to come out in 2012, but never appeared.
