The online retailer’s campaign to sell absolutely everything continues.
Amazon has announced its expansion into the sale of concert and festival tickets through the Amazon Local service.
Currently the selection is fairly limited – as well as tickets for Bestival and Mutiny Festival, notable gigs selling passes include Status Quo, Supertramp and Madness.
Amazon is highlighting the transparency of its pricing, which sees any applicable booking fees included in the price on the product listing page. Some events, including tickets for Camp Bestival, have no booking fees.
“We wanted to offer a convenient way for Amazon customers to book tickets to a wide selection of music, theatre and comedy events around the UK in a few clicks, said Amazon Local’s Geraldine Wilson.
“To build trust it was paramount that we provided transparent pricing from the start with no hidden extras at the checkout which customers told us can be really off-putting and confusing.”
Amazon first expanded into ticket sales at the beginning of the year when it struck a deal with 48 West End venues to sell theatre tickets through the site.
Amazon isn’t the only business to expand into ticket sales in recent months – last month streaming service announced a partnership with Ticketmaster to sell tickets to concerts.
