After teaming up with fellow Bristol producer Second Storey for an EP on R&S this year, Appleblim returns with a solo 12″ for Tempa.
The three-track ‘Auburn Blaze’ promises to fuse Laurie Osborne’s instinct for physical, bass-driven dance with an “exploration of sound design rooted in the pagan rituals of our ancestors”, as opening cut ‘Avebury’ hints, while the 10-minute ‘Wandered’ is a “challenging offering” that’s devoid of kicks, so we’re told.
But before we get to hear those two cuts, we’re hooked on the darkly shimmering title track, an inwards-looking meditation that fans of Actress and Helm are sure to enjoy.
Check it out below and grab the 12″ via Tempa on August 14. Meanwhile, discover Skull Disco’s small but beautiful catalogue in our beginner’s guide to Appleblim’s influential label.
