Australian minister considers ban after public campaign.

After being temporarily barred from leaving the Philippines back in July, Chris Brown is facing more tour trouble.

Australian activists have launched a campaign to keep him out of the country citing his violent criminal history, including the 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The Australian Minister for Women Michaelia Cash has now said that the country’s immigration minister “will be looking at this very, very seriously.”

“I’m clearly not going to preempt a decision by the minister, however I can assure you what my strong recommendation would be,” said Cash. In her previous job as assistant minister for immigration, she prevented a sportsman believed to be boxer Floyd Mayweather from coming to Australia because of his domestic violence record.

“People need to understand — if you are going to commit domestic violence and then you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you, ‘You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia,'” she told reporters.

The decision could affect Brown’s next planned tour stop, as New Zealand’s immigration law denies visas to anyone who has been excluded from another country. [via CNN]
