The experimental producer crafts fractured music box melodies on la demeure; il y a péril en la demeure.
Grischa Lichtenberger is a Berlin-based producer releasing his new work on experimental electronic label Raster-Noton this Friday. Titled la demeure; il y a péril en la demeure the two-part release builds off the uniquely contrasting concepts in its title. ‘La Demeure” refers to the blissful feeling of being cloistered from society in one’s home, while ‘il y a péril en la demeure’ is a legal term in which police are allowed to break into a private home in the case of some imminent danger.
Those two themes are felt through Lichtenberger’s abstract, but addictive compositions, which shift between intimate warmth and disjointed anxiety. It’s especially present on the newly released track ‘keys t’ which takes brittle drums and soothing synths on a highwire balancing act.
