Frontman Jim Reid says recording of the new album has begun.
Earlier this year, Jim Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain revealed his plan to record another album with the band. In a new interview, the singer and guitarist has confirmed Scottish outfit have begun recording their first new material since 1998’s Munki.
“We actually just started recording,” Reid told Time Out New York. “It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see.”
The Jesus and Mary Chain first split in 1999 due to issues between Jim Reid and his brother, guitarist William Reid. Apparently being back on the road has allowed to pair to reconcile their differences. The band reunited in 2007 and released a new live album earlier this year. [via CoS]
