Will Smith’s musical comeback edges ever closer with hints of a world tour.
“I’m feeling good, I’m feeling inspired,” the Willennium prophet told Zane Lowe on Beats 1 last night, saying that he’s recorded more than 30 songs so far, with “six or seven that I really, really like”.
Smith also revealed he’s planning his first ever world tour with sidekick DJ Jazzy Jeff next year. The bombshell comes after he dropped his first new music in years with a multilingual rap on ‘Fiesta’ by Colombian band Bomba Estereo.
Despite having the guiding hand of Kanye West and his son Jaden over the project, he’s nervous about his comeback. “When you’ve had a certain amount of success, it seems like it should breed confidence,” he told Lowe. “But it actually doesn’t. When you win a lot, you lose the ability to lose. You’re not allowed to lose anymore.”
The interview also contains some nuggets on Will’s role in the forthcoming Suicide Squad film, with the actor revealing that he’s still never met his co-star Jared Leto because he remained in totally in character as The Joker throughout filming.
Watch the whole interview (Warning: it’s Will meets Zane. It’s TURNED UP TO ELEVEN throughout.) below and catch up with ‘Fiesta’ underneath.
