People forget that Katy Perry was a very different artist in 2006.

A few years prior, she didn’t even go by “Katy Perry” yet: she went by her birth name, Katy Hudson, and was a Christian rock artist. The singer adopted her mother’s maiden name in 2003, but it wasn’t until 2008 that she rocketed to pop star fame with ‘I Kissed A Girl’.

Before that, however, she had a regrettable stint singing back-up for Christian nu-metal purveyors P.O.D. While Perry would probably like to forget it, the internet never forgets, and the revelation has spread with a viral intensity through websites and Twitter today.
