The beloved band is planning additional shows as well.
Last year, Consequence Of Sound reported LCD Soundsystem was planning a reunion for 2016, citing unnamed sources. Many didn’t believe it, but the reports ended up being true with release of the a new song and confirmation that LCD would headline Coachella.
Now, CoS have reported the band is also planning on headlining LA’s FYF Fest, multiple unannounced festival spots, and is planning a special show of their own in New York. Furthermore, their sources say that the band is planning to record and release more new music in the near future.
They cite a multi-million dollar deal with AEG Live as part of the impetus of reunion, but add that frontman James Murphy never closed the door on this kind of possibility, even saying during their highly publicized 2011 farewell shows that they’d consider reuniting after five years.
Following unnamed sources can be risky, but considering the accuracy of their previous claims we’d say it’s well worth reading. Afterwards be sure to read our feature on Murphy’s various adventures in the band’s five year break.
