Angello will serve as executive producer for the show, which will also feature his music.
Former Swedish House Mafia producer Steve Angello is working on a scripted series set in the world of EDM, Variety reports.
Angello will serve as executive producer on the as yet untitled series, which will be about DJ culture in the “fast-paced, larger-than-life world of electronic dance music, also known as house music.” The series plans to prominently feature Angello’s music.
Angello will work with entertainment company Primary Wave on the project, which is also helping him to develop a film based on his wife Isabel Adrian’s novel Sex, Drugs and The DJ. The book is a loosely based on Adrien and Angello’s life together, and tells the rags-to-riches story of a DJ who becomes an international star.
The series isn’t the first TV project Angello has been attached to. In 2015 it was reported that the EDM megastar had signed up as executive producer for CW show The Drop, a Miami-set show about a washed up DJ who finds a gifted female African-American DJ to mentor.
Let’s hope they’re better than Zac Efron’s EDM movie We Are Your Friends, which FACT’s Andrew Friedman described in his review as “a depressing chronicle of the scene at its worst.”
