We just thought you’d like to know that Mariah Carey, R&B goddess and patron saint of Christmas, is engaged to Australian billionaire James Packer.

Mr Packer, 47, is Australia’s fourth-richest person, with a fortune in the region of A$4.7 billion ($3.1 billion, or £2.3 billion). Not that Mariah needs the cash, mind – her net worth is about $520 million.
