New York producer finds his voice on second album.
Lord RAJA, the alias of Chester Raj Anand, debuted on Ghostly International in 2014 with A Constant Moth. But it’s on the follow-up, PARA, that the young producer claims to have hit upon a sound he can call his own.
The album was composed in part from recordings made at Switched On, a famous music equipment shop in Austin, and weaves together diverse influences including hip-hop, jungle, and Jersey Club. “This is probably my most successful attempt at making a consistent work,” Anand says in the press release. “I was really conscious about making a record that wouldn’t alienate people.”
PARA was released this week on limited edition pink vinyl and can also be streamed and downloaded for free via Adult Swim.
Next week, Lord Raja joins fellow Ghostly artists Shigeto and Heathered Pearls for an extensive European tour followed by a short string of dates on the US east coast in early March.
