Founding member of the Roots Leonard “Hub” Hubbard says he has not been properly compensated in light of the group’s success.
According to a report from TMZ, Hubbard is suing Questlove, Black Thought and the band’s current manager over lost income he has not received as co-owner of the band. Hubbard started playing with the group in 1992 before leaving his post in 2007 after being diagnosed with a form of blood cancer called multiple myeloma.
Hubbard claims that he received a letter in 2014 “threatening he was going to lose his health insurance and his cut of the band’s revenues,” five years after the band started their stint as house band for Jimmy Fallon. [via Stereogum]
