The release is inspired by her residencies at Stockholm’s EMS studio.
Experimental composer Kyoka will return to Raster-Noton, the label behind her 2012 EP iSH and 2014 LP Is (Is Superpowered), with a new record titled SH.
The press release describes the EP as the Japanese musician’s most experimental yet, and it certainly sounds that way from the new track ‘Smash/Hush’. True to the name, the track blends smoky, sparse atmospheres with a heavy bass thump.
You can grab SH starting March 25 from Raster-Noton, and it will also be available on CD with two additional tracks. Listen to the rumbling ‘Smash/Hush’ below.
