The singer’s story to be exposed in a new BBC documentary.

Nick Broomfield, the filmmaker responsible for documentaries Biggie and Tupac and Kurt & Courtney, is making a new film about Whitney Houston for BBC Two.

A release date has yet to be announced for the film, which BBC say “goes in search of the forces that made and then destroyed the singer who has been described as having one of the greatest voices of the last 50 years.”

The film was announced as part of a talk on Tuesday night (March 8) by Charlotte Moore, BBC Controller of TV Channels and iPlayer, explaining forthcoming plans for programming across BBC channels.

Whitney Houston died in February 2012 with the coroner confirming the official cause of death to be drowning combined with the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.
