Kanye West, The National and Ellie Goulding are to appear on a new album put together by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett, called Metamorphoses.

Produced by Lovett and The Global Poverty Project’s online platform Global Citizen, the 12-track collaborative album will turn words and stories crowd-sourced from music fans and activists into songs.

It is not clear yet whether the listed artists will collaborate on the album, or provide individual tracks. The record is due for release in autumn, with submissions closing March 31. According to Lovett: “The words can be anything, as long as they’re original. All languages are welcome and all subject material too.

Metamorphoses has the potential to break down our preconceptions of the voices of creativity, what different people around the world are thinking and who has the right to be heard. In my own life, I’ve experienced people trying to define me and put me in boxes and categories. Through collaboration we can show people how those lines can be blurred and are ultimately redundant.”

Global Citizen was set up in New York in 2012 to connect “socially conscious citizens with information, organisations, events and campaigns all geared towards raising awareness and increasing action on issues that contribute to the poverty cycle.”
