Leeds prodigy Happa is back with the second release in a trilogy of EPs.
Samir Alikhanizadeh kicked off a series of self-released EPs last summer with the concisely named Pt 1, which led with the wonky EBM glamour of ‘Crickets’.
For the second instalment, Happa cranks up the tempo on lead track ‘Blackberreh!’, an oddly weightless and glitchy track that more closely resembles the braindance of Mark Fell, the clanging percussion of Kowton or even the club abstractions of Her Records or DJ NJ Drone than his earlier technoise influences. Basically, the kid’s gone up a gear.
Stream ‘Blackberreh!’ and catch the rest of the three-track Pt 2 EP through Happa’s label PT/5 on April 8.
Happa will follow in the footsteps of Loom, Hackman and Ducktails later this month when he steps up to the Against The Clock challenge on FACT TV.
Rewind to Happa’s fearsome FACT mix from 2014, featuring Blacknecks, Godspeed and Mika Vainio.
